PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a metal chock construction and to execute positioning of upper and lower work rolls and control of roll bending force by reducing the diameter of both end parts of the work rolls, fitting bearings thereto and pushing rollers to the roll side. CONSTITUTION:A torque transmission clutch is provided to the left side part D of the upper and lower work rolls 3, 4 and a socket, etc., are fitted for the purpose of roll changing to the right side part E so that the small diameter parts to support the rolls 3, 4 in a cantilever manner are provided. A step is provided to the part C to restrain the axial movement of the rolls 3, 4 by thrust receiving rollers 11. The upper work roll 3 is positioned in the pass direction by a positioning device 6 via a bearing 5 and the lower work roll 4 is positioned directly by the roller 1 via a bracket 2 and a self-aligning device 10 and is also applied with adequate bender force. The roll bending force can be varied by changing the liquid pressure of a cylinder 7 according to the geometric conditions of the roll 3, the bearing 5 and the roller 1.
