PURPOSE:To attempt to efficiently heat air by a solid heat storage body, by flowing air to the air passage of other solid heat storage body from the air passage of one solid heat storage body by the intermediary of a meandering passage. CONSTITUTION:A solid heat storage body 3 is a rectangular parallelepiped body, made of a material such as magnesia, and a plurality of channels 4 are formed on one side of the parallelpiped body along the direction crossing at right angles to the longitudinal direction, having gaps in the longitudinal direction. In order to obtain hot-water, water is to be fed to the water pipe 9 of a heat exchanger 8 from a feed water source through a feed water pipe 11. At the same time a fan 13 is rotated by a motor 14 to convey the air from a casing 1 toward a regenerator, by raising it from the lower space of a casing to one side of the upper space. The conveyed air flows into the gaps between both rows of regenerating bodies 3A and 3B, passing through the channels 4 of each solid heat storage body 3 provided in the row of a heat storage body 3A on one side in each stage of a regenerator. The air flows passing through a gap between a buffer plate 7 and the side surface facing to the gap of each solid heat storage body 3 in the row 3A of a heat storage body 3. In such a manner the area of contact of air with the solid heat storage body is increased, so that the air can be heated effectively.
