PURPOSE:To achieve proper feed/return motion of a recording medium, by constructing such that the motion of a drive gear for feeding/returning the recording medium is fed through a first idler gear to a platen gear and through second and third idler gears to a recording medium gear. CONSTITUTION:In case of recording medium feeding operation, the motion of a drive gear 10 is transmitted through a first idler gear 11 to a platen gear 8 to rotate the platen, while simultaneously the rotary motion of the drive gear 10 is transmitted through a third idler gear 27, a clutch mechanism 28 and a second idler gear 25 to a recording medium gear 13 so as to rotate a recording medium roll 12. In other word, the recording medium is fed through rotary motion of the platen and the recording medium roll 12. In case of returning operation of recording medium, the rotary motion of the drive gear 10 causes rotation of the platen through the gear 11, but the clutch mechanism 28 does not operate and the gear 25 does not rotate, thereby the rotary motion of the roll 12 is carried out through rotary motion of the platen. |
