PURPOSE:To make the titled device correspond to plural sampling frequency levels while fixing recording frequency by fixing the number of assigned words in one field and switching the number of average sampling words and a deviation in accordance with the sampling frequency. CONSTITUTION:When set large and small block fields are switched and outputted by a synchronizing processing means 2, a digitized audio signal can be synchronized with a video signal on an average. An output word from an one-symbol delay and parallel/serial conversion circuit 7 is compressed in each field by a time axis compressing means 8 based on a rotary head switching signal and preamble and postamble block are inserted into the compressed data. Thus, the analog signals of digitized audio and video signals can be simultaneously recorded on a magnetic tape without switching the rotary head.
