The invention relates to a cleaning and loading machine for tubers taken from a pile, making it possible to remove as much as possible of the earth which surrounds them after they have been pulled. This cleaning and loading machine is made up of a chassis mounted on three wheels 15, 26 and 27, mainly including a hopper 1, of square cross-section, for receiving the tubers, the hopper having a bottom consisting of an inclined grid 2, over which there slide scraper bars 13 fixed to two endless chains 18, each one driven by sprockets 17a and 17b, which preclean the beet deposited in the said hopper 1, before they are tipped out through an opening 3 made in the top part of the grid 2. The beet fall under gravity onto a deflecting grid 7 which distributes them onto two tangential turbine wheels 5 without a retaining ring, which supply an orientable elevator conveyor 11, whose height can be adjusted, and which is equipped with a discharging jib 12 with adjustable inclination. Application: cleaning tubers taken from a pile, before loading them on to a lorry. <IMAGE>
