<p>Process for manufacturing a continuous smooth polyester yarn of low shrinkage, based on a rapidly spun partial oriented yarn (POY). The polyester POY (5a) is cold-drawn (5b) and then, together with a 10 to 20 % lead, is subjected to hot relaxation (5c) at a temperature of between 140 and 250°C in a dry medium or between 70 and 140°C in a wet medium, after which it is subjected to swirling as necessary. A yarn is obtained having an initial modulus of between 200 and 800 cN/tex and a scouring shrinkage of less than 3 %. The yarn is suitable for use as a substitute for cellulose acetate.</p> |
