A diode thermometer, in which a current supply is operated in such a manner that a temperature sensor diode is operated at a first current level and then at a second current level which differs from the first one. A voltage generated across the diode (12) by the switching-over of the current is supplied to an integrator (38) which integrates the voltage over a particular time interval, after the expiry of which it is supplied with a known reference voltage which is directed opposite to the preceding signal so that the integrator now integrates in the opposite direction. A unit (46) is provided which makes it possible for the integrator (38) to start from a zero reference. A comparator (48) detects the return of the integrator output signal to the zero reference. A counter (50) is enabled for counting clock pulses during the time in which the integrator (38) integrates the known reference value until the comparator (48) detects the return of the integrator output signal to the zero reference level. The count in the counter (50) is therefore representative of the detected temperature, and the measurement is free of influences attributable to the diode and/or to the circuit, which could otherwise impair the accuracy of the measurement. Furthermore, methods for presenting the measurement on a particular temperature scale are specified. <IMAGE>
