The ultrasonic transducer contains a piezoelectric base body (2) which is provided in each case with an electrode (4; 5) on its flat sides. The disc-shaped base body (2) in each case contains an indentation (6, 7) on its mutually opposite flat sides, in which indentations in each case the electrode (4; 5) is connected to an electrical connecting conductor. This embodiment of the ultrasonic transducer provides a significant increase in the sonic pulse. <IMAGE>
