<p>Means for studying interactions of a predetermined retrovirus with cell lines susceptible of being infected by said retrovirus. It implements a defective recombinant retrovirus derived from the retrovirus in question, containing the parts acting in ''cis'' of said retrovirus which normally provides for its packing, its reverse transcription into a DNA molecule and its integration into the genome of the host cell. Said recombinant retrovirus is characterized by the partial or total substitution of sequences coding for its viral proteins by a genic sequence coding itself for a protein acting as labelling agent for the infected cells. The detection of the labelling agent in the cells of which the infection sensitivity is to be studied proves their capacity to be infected by the wild retrovirus. The cells infected by the defective recombinant retrovirus may, in turn, be used as reagent for the detection in the wild retrovirus in an exterior biological sample. The presence of the wild retrovirus is evidenced by the complementation in trans of the provirus which is then produced by said cells andwhich may then be detected.</p> |
