An apparatus for grilling or browning food includes a grilling compartment (1) having a self-contained unit (30) which is mounted in an upper region of the griling compartment (1) during manufacture. Self-contained unit (30) includes one or more infra-red emissive lamps (9,10) which extend from front to rear of grilling compartment. One or more removeable reflectors (34; 32, 33) are provided to reflect radiation from the lamps downwardly into the grilling compartment. |
