<p>COIN APPARATUS FOR PREPAY COIN TELEPHONES In a prepay coin telephone set, the amount of coins held in escrow prior to setting up a call is limited, generally by space considerations. By providing a bypass passage from the escrow unit to the coin collecting box, any coins above a particular total value will pass into the bypass passage. As all the coins passing to the escrow unit will have been counted, and valued, it is still possible to know the total amount of coins deposited. A user can insert more coins than the limit normally set by the conventional escrow unit, for example in preparation for a lengthy or expensive call.</p> |
