摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a beautiful two-color print on an ordinary paper, by providing a first ink layer, an adhesive layer and a second ink layer on a base, setting the adhesive force between the base and the first ink layer and that between the first and the second ink layer in a specified relationship, and causing a wax component, a heat-sensitive adhesive component and all components in the second ink layer to satisfy specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A first ink layer 3, an adhesive layer 5 and a second ink layer 4 are provided on a base 2. The adhesive force F1 between the base and the first ink layer 3 and the adhesive force F2 between the first ink layer 3 and the second ink layer 4 are so set that F1>F2 at high temperatures and F1<F2 at low temperatures. The second ink layer 4 consists of a particulate wax component, a particulate heat-sensitive adhesive component and a coloring agent component. The melt viscosity at 150 deg.C of the adhesive component is 10<3>-10<6> cP, and the melt viscosity at 150 deg.C of the mixture of the wax component, the adhesive component and the coloring agent component is 10<3>-10<5> cP. By the use of this thermal transfer material, it is possible to enhance not only the recording quality when the second ink layer 4 is transferred but the recording quality when both of the first and second ink layers 3, 4 are transferred.
