GAS VALVE ASSEMBLY

A gas valve assembly has a safety valve (13) and a electromagnetic controlled valve (14) connected in series. A control knob (42) provides for manual control of the safety valve (13) and for locking the electromagnetically controlled valve (14) in closed position. The manual control knob, when in the OFF and PILOT positions, causes a stop member (61) to be moved against the movable core member (23) of the electromagnetic operator to hold the electromagnetic controlled valve closed.
