The invention relates to a method for automatically transferring mass-produced articles, such as wire hoops for champagne bottles, into an ordered arrangement on a tray subsequent to their unordered delivery from a working station and a method for automatically transferring mass-produced articles arranged in an ordered arrangement on a tray to a further-working station and also an apparatus for carrying out the method. In order to ensure that the mass-produced articles maintain their defined, ordered arrangement with respect to one another during the transfer operations and that manual working operations are not required, it is proposed to deliver the mass-produced articles, subsequent to their unordered delivery from the working station, along a downwardly directed incline out of the latter, to transfer them, on the incline, into an ordered arrangement in the form of a row, to align the row into the horizontal and to convey it to the tray by means of a gripping device arranged movably above the row; on the other hand, when the mass-produced articles are being transferred from the tray, it is proposed to move them, by means of the gripping device, from the container to the horizontal, set them down on the latter, transfer them into a downwardly directed incline and deliver them to the further-working station. The apparatus is distinguished by a guide track for receiving mass-produced articles, which guide track can be swivelled between a horizontal position and a position directed downwards at an incline.
