The surface lighting fixture has several low-voltage halogen lamps (11) arranged in a housing (1) with cold light mirror reflectors at least partially transparent to heat radiation. The lamps (11) are connected in series. Each lamp (11) has a by-pass circuit in the form of a phase-angle control connected in parallel, which forms a by-pass path for the intact lamps and also limits the power of the intact lamps to permissible values in case the coiled filament of the assigned lamp breaks.
