PURPOSE:To enable damping force to be controlled consecutively and exactly by proportioning reversely to the square root of a spool displacement the variable-aperture-passage-cross-sectional-area of an orifice connecting the hollow- hole of a valve main-body and the outside. CONSTITUTION:When a vehicle bonds, oil inside a cylinder chamber flows to an oil chamber via a passage 80, the variable aperture 30 of an orifice 18 formed at a sleeve 10, the annular passage 28 of a spool 16, a passage 20, an annular groove 50, a passage 68, and damping force occurs. This orifice 18, together with the land portion 22 of the spool 16 which is positioned through a core-rod 64 according to a travel condition, forms the variable aperture in which a cross-sectional area A is variable. In this case, the variable aperture cross-sectional area A is formed so as to be reversely proportionate to the square root of a displacement X off the standard position O of the spool 16, and a flow-quantity coefficient is retained nearly fixedly. Thus, damping force can be set exactly at a proper value according to the travel condition of a vehicle. |
