PURPOSE:To obtain a foil having good shape of end part by arranging grooves on surface of side dam at sliding part range brought end faces of cooling rolls into contact with the side dam and a passage connecting with the grooves, supplying gas, etc., to this passage and also arranging end face pressing device. CONSTITUTION:Metal plate constituting the side dam 3 uses copper alloy and by water-cooling this inner part, the inner surface temp. is held to less than the prescribed temp. Fine shell contact-solidified to the metal plate is easily dropped out from the plate face. Further, it is prevented with inert gas or lubricant supplied through the grooves 7 at inner face side of the side dam, that molten metal 4 such as molten steel penetrating into gap between the side dam 3 and end faces of the cooling rolls 1, 1' is invoded. Further, the side dam 3 is adjusted as pressing to the end faces of the cooling rolls 1, 1' with the end face pressing position adjusting device 8, to easily prevent the penetration of the molten metal. By this method, trouble of the development of solidified shell, etc., is eliminated and the foil having good shape at end face can be obtd. |
