PURPOSE:To improve deposition resistance and consumption resistance by working, by application of mechanical alloying, a powder mixture in which prescribed metal carbide powder and graphite powder are buried in a copper powder and by dispersing graphite grains into an alloy uniformly and independently. CONSTITUTION:Graphite (0.1-10% by weight) is blended with a mixture of 97-50% copper and 3-50% carbides of group IVa, Va, and VIa metals of the periodic table of the elements, and the resulting powder mixture is subjected to mechanical alloying, e.g., by ball mill. The resulting mixture is compacted and then is sintered in a reducing atmosphere or in vacuum, followed by reworking In this way, the size of graphite grains in the above sintered alloy is regulated to <=3mum and, moreover, respective grains are dispersed uniformly and independently. |
