The skate (2) has a boot (15) releasably connected to a blade 81) by conencting members. The connection members (13-34) adjust the height of the boot w.r.t. the blade and is formed by a slot (34) with grippable notched edges in a bridge (26). The assembly is adjustably connected by a threaded bolt (25). The blade is attached on its upper edge to a closed-profile strip (3) gripped at the sides by clamping jaws (13,14). The strip is mfd. from extruded aluminium and is kite-shaped in cross section with a transverse reinforcing rib (9) and a similar vertical extending above a blade receiving groove (4). The upper ends (16,17) of the jaws extend up to where they are fixed to the bridges.
