PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of a picture quality even when an output image is converted in magnification so as to adapted to the resolution of an output side by multiplexing the output image corresponding to a binary input image. CONSTITUTION:The block constitution of a device is constituted of the binary image data 11 to be processed, a processing parameter 12 for designating the contents for an image processing and a binary/multi-level converting image processor 13. The number of the picture elements of the input binary image is enlarged or reduced by the second enlargement/reduction magnification obtained by multiplying the previously designated first enlargement/reduction magnification by a desired value K( K is an integer above 2), the enlarged or reduced binary image is divided for the unit of a dot matrix of K rows and K columns and in the respective K rows and K columns dot matrices, the value obtained by multiplying the number of the dot having a prescribed logical value by 2<n>/(KXK) (N is the number of bits of data indicating the variable density level of the respective constituting picture elements of an output multi-level image) is converted and outputted for the dot matrix unit as the output multi-level data of one dot indicating the state of a relevant dot matrix. |
