PURPOSE:To improve the bending strength and response of a fluorine ion electrode, by further adding at least one kind of a rare earth metal and lithium fluoride to lanthanum fluoride or cerim fluoride being a main component and baking the resulting composition to form a sintered body. CONSTITUTION:For example, 96.5% of lanthanum fluoride, 3.0% of lithium fluoride and 0.7% of europium fluoride are weighed to be mixed with each other and the resulting mixture is calcined at 800 deg.C for 2hr. Next, the calcined mixture is ground and subjected to compression molding to form a molded body having a diameter of 10mm and a thickness of 1.5mm and said molded body is baked at 1,300-1,400 deg.C for 3hr. Calcination and final baking are performed in inert gas. The sintered body after baking responds to fluorine concn. of 10<-1>-10<-7>M. |
