PURPOSE:To execute DPCM encoding with a low-speed circuit element by using sub sample, multiplexing to the picture element data of the sub sample and the DPCM encoding to the multiplexed picture element data. CONSTITUTION:The picture line group of a sub sample object, for example, three picture lines are sub sampled by a sub sample circuit 10. For each picture element data column group for the sub sampled lines, multiplexing to arrange the respective picture element data in respective element data columns into a prescribed order arrangement is alternatively written into line buffer memories 11E and 110 by a write circuit 4 in a multiplexing circuit 2 and alternatively read out by a read circuit 6. In a DPCM encoding circuit 14, the DPCM encoding is executed to the respective picture element data in the prescribed order arrangement in the multiplexed picture element data column. Thus, the same DPCM encoding can be achieved by the low-speed circuit element, for example, a conventional 1/2 circuit element. |
