A connector (3) has two parallel rows of pins (7) protruding from the base of a pedestal (8) in which a socket is formed for insertion of an integrated circuit (1). The pins (7) pass through a printed circuit board (4) and into a base circuit (2) to which they can be soldered. One or more integrated circuit chips (5) are wire-bonded to the board (4) and encapsulated in resin (6), in the spaces between heads of the pins (7). Overall height of the module does not exceed that of a standard dual-in-line package. USE/ADVANTAGE - With basic read-only memory or UV EPROM and random-access extension memory chips. Module affords saving of surface area and in certain applications simplification of printed connections.
