The invention relates to an apparatus for the hot bending of metal tubes with a device for advancing the metal tube, a heating device, a cooling device and a bending device. In order to improve the quality of the tube bend produced, the proposal according to the invention is that the cooling device should contain an element 14 which is independent of the cooling and heating device 11, surrounds the outside 12 of the tube bend over approximately half of its circumference, is crescent shaped, sprays coolant and is arranged in a manner which allows it to be tilted relative to the plane of the heating device 11. The invention furthermore relates to a method for the production of a tube bend on an apparatus of this kind. <IMAGE>
