Rail-bound transport system

The invention relates to a rail-bound transport system with automotive travel cars which travel in a rail system which has fixed rail components and movable rail components such as shunting cars, lifts, turntables etc. The rail-bound transport system is distinguished by the fact that, in order to protect against open rail ends being travelled over, the travel cars have at least one shock absorber and both the fixed and the movable open rail ends each have at least one stop element which can be moved between an operational position in which they stop the travel car by resting against the shock absorber, and a non-operational position in which it permits the travel car to pass through, and in that the stop elements are only transferred from the operational position into the non-operational position by an actuation device when a movable rail end is positioned with respect to the open, fixed rail end in such a way that a travel car can pass over the joint.
