PURPOSE:To obtain stable high-quality images, by setting the melting point of a sublimable dye to be lower than that of a binder resin, and ensuring favorable compatibility with a dyeable resin, thereby causing the dye to penetrate deep into the dyeable resin through diffusion. CONSTITUTION:A coloring material layer 11 comprises at least a sublimable dye 13 and a binder resin 14, and the surface thereof is made to be smooth. A dyeable layer 21 comprises mainly a dyeable resin 23, and the surface thereof is also made to be smooth so that the gap formed between the coloring material layer 11 and the dyeable layer 21 when a dye transfer medium 1 and an image- receiving material 2 are opposed to each other is designed to be extremely small. The dye 13 has a low melting point and a sublimation-starting temperature higher than the melting point. Since a disperse dye is generally used as the sublimable dye, any of polyester resins well compatible with the dyeable resin 23 can be used as the binder resin 14. Thus, high stability of recorded images can be obtained. |
