PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal printer capable of reducing color misregistration, by engaging a platen roller with a pinch roller by a gearing, incorporating a one-way clutch in the platen roller or the pinch roller, and braking a paper when the paper is fed backward. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 8 is lowered, and a platen roller 9 is rotated to feed out a paper 3 by a predetermined distance. Thereafter, the platen roller 9 is rotated reversely to feed back the leading end of the paper 3 to the position of a sensor 19 for detecting the leading end of the paper. In this case, a pinch roller 10 on the paper-discharging side is rotated at a circumferential velocity lower than that of the platen roller 9 under the actions of spur gears 31, 32 and a one-way clutch 33, so that the paper 3 is braked when being fed backward, and is brought into close contact with the outer periphery of the platen roller 9. Consequently, printing is superimposingly conducted constantly at the same position, and color misregistration can be minimized. |
