PURPOSE:To detect faint soil of a background part by removing character pattern parts from a picture image A/D converted and binarized to emphasize luminosity level of the background part and executing examination only in the background part. CONSTITUTION:A pattern 5 to be examined is photographed by a photographing device 6, and analog image signals 17 are converted to digital image signals 18 by an A/D converter 7 and stored in an image memory 8. Then, stored data are binarized at specified threshold value, and sent to a correlation circuit 10 as binarized image signals 19. The circuit 10 compares and examines the pattern part and background part basing on dictionary pattern data 20 from a dictionary memory 9. Thereby, it becomes possible to remove pattern part from a picture in which near the background level is emphasized and examine near the background part at minute luminosity, and faint soil, etc., can also be detected effectively. |
