Apparatus for handling Edam cheeses, comprising a number of transport boxes which each carry at least one vertical row of planks provided with cheese holders in horizontal position, provided with a lift (57) comprising a number of plank carriers (62) connected to a lifting mechanism (61, 64), a carriage (56) comprising a mobile frame (68) which has a number of plank removing arms (73) for moving the carriage towards an arranged box (24), taking up of the row of planks (76) onto the plank removing arms, moving of the carriage towards the lift and for transferring the planks from the plank removing arms onto the plank carriers, whereby the control means can further control the lifting mechanism such that it successively carries the taken up planks to the height of a reciprocating removing device (74) of the apparatus, which moves the planks in a successive row onto a feed conveyor (75) leading to a handling station. |
