<p>PURPOSE:To preserve detailed information of an image keeping reproducibility of halftone by detecting presence of density information and edge information from a binary original image in small block unit, and composing after applying variable power processing to each block. CONSTITUTION:A dither processing circuit 2 performs binarizing by dither processing according to density data from a density data detecting circuit 1. Binary data of a blurred image outputted from the dither processing circuit 2 by a line buffer 7 are synchronized with binary data of an original image and inputted to an edge information detecting circuit 8. Density data applied with variable power by a variable power processing circuit 4 are binarized by a dither processing circuit 3. Image data outputted from the dither processing circuit 3 and edge data outputted from a magnification change circuit 5 are composed giving priority to edge information. Thus, a variable power image excellent in gradation and resolution can be obtained as the dither pattern of an original image is not destructed and edge information can be preserved.</p> |
