PURPOSE: To obtain the title recording paper imparting color forming density not lowered even at the time of color formation under high energy and excellent in dot reproducibility, by interposing an intermediate layer based on scaly barium sulfate having oil absorption of a predetermined value between a paper support and a thermal color forming layer. CONSTITUTION: An intermediate layer based on scaly barium sulfate having oil absorption of below 30ml/100g is interposed between a support and a thermal color forming layer. Scaly barium sulfate pref. has a diameter/thickness ratio of 4 or more and a diameter of 10mum or less. Since said intermediate layer is low in oil absorption, the excessive penetration of a color forming component in the intermediate layer at the time of color formation is prevented and, even when printing is performed using high energy, developed color density is high. Since barium sulfate is scaly, when the thermal layer is provided to an upper layer, the surface smoothness thereof is high and the close adhesiveness thereof with a thermal head is well and, as a result, dot reproducibility is improved. |
