<p>PURPOSE:To permit detection of a slag level and metal level and to stably execute refining in an electroslag refining process by providing temp. measuring means for detecting the temp. distribution in the vertical direction of a crucible to the crucible. CONSTITUTION:A high-quality ingot 2 is formed by immersing a consumable electrode 5 into molten slag 4 in the crucible 1, melting the consumable electrode 5 by the Joule heat generated in the molten slag 4 by energizing and removing impurities by the slag 4. Plural thermocouples 13a-13f are provided in the vertical direction of the crucible 1 so as to contact the outside wall of a copper liner 11 on the inside surface side of the crucible to measure the temp. distribution of the crucible 1. The liquid level (slag level) of the molten slag 4 is thereby detected and the boundary (metal level) between the molten slag 4 and molten metal 3 is simultaneously detected. The stable operation is thus executed by adequately adjusting the operating conditions.</p> |
