PURPOSE:To easily accommodate and retrieve a document image by making an image to reduce automatically the area into a graphic keyboard when the area of the document image is designated at the time of accommodating the document image. CONSTITUTION:At the time of accommodation, a document image inputted from an image input means 12 is displayed at an image displaying means 13, and a user uses a coordinate input means 16 and designates the optional area of the document image. A CPU 15 files position information concerning an designated area to a document image file means 14 together with the document image. At the time of retrieving, a character key word related to the document image to be extracted is inputted from a command input means 11. The CPU 15 uses the position information accommodated in the means 14, reduces the area designated by the user of the document image by an image reducing means 17 at the time of accommodation, prepares an index image and plural pieces are simultaneously displayed on the means 13. |
