Locking system for a telescopic upright in which a fixed part 1 is integral with the chassis 2 of the vehicle, the other part forming a slide is integral with the covering. This system includes a lock with a bolt 13 permanently forced towards its active locking position by an elastic member; this lock is actuated by a cam 15 which can move vertically and which acts on the arm 8 supporting the bolt. The bolt and its manoeuvring system are housed in a reinforcement 4 of the fixed part 1 of the upright. <IMAGE>
