<p>4-Benzyl piperazinyl-substd. keto-enol rifamycin of enolic formula (I) in which W is a piperazin-1-yl gp. (II), R1 to R5 are 1-4C alkyl or R3 and R4 are buta-1,3-diene 1,4-diene, for use alone or in combination with antibiotics for treatment of infections e.g. those produced by the TB bacillus or a typical SIDA microbacteria are made by reaction of a piperazinyl rifamycin S or -rifamycin SU N'-unsubstd. with a cpd. of formula (III), x being the gp. of an inorganic acid, e.g. Cl or Br or a strong organic acid, pref. in presence of a base e.g. ethyl diisopropylamide, with opt. subsequent conversion to an isomeric form or a salt.</p> |
