PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an assay suitable for home use by determining the positional relationship such that a liquid sample permeates to an area to be detected after absorbing a labeled reagent and making the extent of bonding of labeled reagent observable in the area to be detected thereby lessening the labor of user. SOLUTION: An area 16 contains a first antibody holding a visible label. The reagent can pass through a test piece 10 freely when a liquid sample is present. A second area 14 contains a second antibody fixed to the test piece 10. The test piece 10 touches the liquid sample at the lower end thereof 11. A fluid rises through capillary phenomenon and when the sample traverses a band area 12, the labeled first antibody is dissolved or scattered and bonded to a specimen in the way of movement toward the area 14. Upon arriving at the area 14, molecules of a specimen are bonded to a second antibody and a labeled sandwich is fixed. When a specimen of significant concentration is present in the sample, accumulation of visible label in the area 14 can be identified in a short time.
