An underwater motor, in the case of which the rotor (which is firmly connected mechanically to an output drive shaft) is constructed as a radial field rotor having permanent magnet excitation, and with a stationary stator. The rotor is designed as a closed hollow cylinder having flat end surfaces, in whose annular wall, which is surrounded by the stator, the permanent magnets are arranged. The cavity of the rotor is filled with an incompressible liquid. The stator is arranged in the annular wall of a second hollow cylinder, which accommodates the rotor and in whose smooth and rotationally symmetrical side walls the propeller shaft (1) is supported in a sealed manner, such that it can rotate. An incompressible liquid is likewise arranged in the intermediate spaces formed by the side walls and end walls of the two hollow cylinders. <IMAGE>
