PURPOSE:To obtain an extremely small-sized and one-chip-shaped non-break changeover connector by constituting it of a waveguide chip having a main line waveguide, a branch waveguide which has branched from the main line waveguide, and a light reflecting means which has been provided on the tip of the branch waveguide. CONSTITUTION:The titled connector is constituted of a waveguide chip 1, a main line waveguide 2 which has been formed on this chip 1, a branch waveguide 3 which has been allowed to branch from this main line waveguide 2, and a light reflecting means 4 consisting of a reflection mirror, etc., provided on the tip of this branch waveguide. For instance, when optical fibers F... being optical transmission lines are placed, and an optical signal has been inputted from the lower end part, it is transmitted to the main line waveguide 2, and also, a part thereof is transmitted to the branch waveguide 3 side, as well, and the signal which has reached its tip is reflected by the reflecting means 4, and transmitted to the outside of the waveguide chip 1. On the contrary, when the optical signal is inputted to the reflecting means 4 from the outside of the waveguide chip 1, it is transmitted to the main line waveguide 2 through the branch waveguide 3, and reaches the lower end parts. In this way, a small-sized and extremely compact connector can be obtained. |
