The invention relates to a holding device for baskets, boxes, or like containers, which device can be fastened to a luggage carrier for bicycles, mopeds or the like. Said holding device (10) is in the form of a plate (12) having, in particular, grooved sections (14, 15) which can be laid on the luggage carrier. The lower side (16) of the plate (12) is provided with means for connecting said plate (12) to the luggage carrier. Hook-like extensions, noses or like holding members (20, 22, 24, 26) for detachable fastening of the container are arranged on the upper side (18) of the plate (12). The holding members (24, 26) are rigidly fixed on the plate (12), whereas the holding members (20, 22) can be transferred from one locking position, against the action of a preload, to a final locking position.
