PURPOSE:To reduce the operational noise and to achieve the maximum efficiency, by forming the liftdown section of a cam for driving a plunger of a plunger pump into a particular shape. CONSTITUTION:A pluger pump for pressure feeding fuel to an accumulation fuel injection nozzle and a cam 33 for limiting the lift of a plunger in said plunger pump and driving the plunger 9 downward within predetermined phase range are provided. The position of the plunger 9 is limited to such position where the lift of the liftdown section of the cam 32 decreases gradually over a phase corresponding from a time point when fuel injection is started under rated operation of engine to an igniting time point while the opening area of an injection valve 3 of an accumulation fuel injection nozzle will be same with total opening area of an injection port 8 at a phase corresponding to the igniting time point. Consequently, the operating noise is reduced and the maximum thermal efficiency can be achieved. |
