Process for energetic use of waste material in steam power station

The process is applied in a steam-operated power station which burns fossil fuels, and which has smoke cleansing equipment. After a preparatory stage, the material is gasified to produce a combustible gas, which is then brought into contact with an aqueous cleansing liquid, so that heavy metals are separated from the gas, and are absorbed by the liquid in insoluble sulphide form as a sludge. The gas which is partly cleaned through contact with the liquid is then fed to a steam generator for burning, and its chemical energy is used to produce steam or hot water. The sulphur compounds which are then burnt, if necessary as well as nitrogen oxide which arises from the combustion, are restrained in the cleansing equipment together with harmful material which arises from the combustion of the fossil fuel.
