PURPOSE:When the high-speed melt-spinning of polyester is effected, the cooling air is blown to the yarn from the air-flow straighteners opposing to each other on both sides of the yarn path to effect uniform cooling of the yarn and prevent yarn breakage. CONSTITUTION:When polyester is melt-spun at a taking-up speed over 5,000m/ min, a couple of air-straighteners are set on both sides of the yarn path so that they oppose to each other and the surface from which the cooling air comes out becomes parallel with the rows of the nozzle holes to effect uniform blowing of the cooling air. If the nozzles are in two or more rows, their arragement is preferably zigzag in even-number rows.
