A miniaturized refrigeration system comprises a high speed, high frequency induction motor 12 directly coupled to a centrifugal refrigerant compressor 14. A first fluid flow path is provided from the compressor directly to an evaporator 18 to maintain relatively constant compressor flow over a relatively wide range of conditions. A second fluid flow path is provided from the compressor to the evaporator through a conventional condenser 20 and expansion valve 26. A reservoir 22 and filter 24 are also provided. <IMAGE>
