The invention relates to a process and device for drying material in a drying plant (10), to which warm air (16) is supplied via an air feed installation (15). The humid air (11, 12) vented from the drying plant (10), which is cooler and more humid than the warm air supplied (16), is fed to a warming installation (14) by means of an air feed installation (13). Only that portion of the humid air (11, 12) with a relative humidity of 25% to 35% is used. In the warming installation (14), this portion of the humid air (12) is warmed to increase its enthalpy, until its relative humidity drops below 10%. From there, the warmed portion of the humid air (120) is injected into the dry air (16) via the compressed-air injection arrangement (18), and fed to the drying plant (10) together with the dry air. <IMAGE>
