A mains connection circuit for an electrical hot-water tank is intended to enable different power connection as required, and is intended to operate with a 220V switching contactor. For this purpose, two switching contacts (14, 15) of the switching contactor (5) are connected between heating resistors (1, 2, 3) and two of the connecting terminals (10, 11) of the connecting terminal strip (8). No switching contactor contact is provided between a further heating resistor (4) and a third connecting terminal (12). The star point (neutral) of the heating resistor circuit is connected to a fourth connecting terminal (9), which is provided for the neutral conductor (N). The neutral conductor (N) is not connected when all three phases are connected. The switching contactor (5) is connected to the fourth connecting terminal (9) and, via a push-button switch (16), to the connecting terminal (10), which is always connected. <IMAGE>
