PURPOSE:The heating of dimethylhexamethylenediamine is effected in the presence of a nickel catalyst to enable high-selectivity, high-yield production of the titled compound, which is used as a starting substance of medicines and agricultural chemicals, a rubber vulcanization accelerator, through an industrially easy process. CONSTITUTION:Dimethylhexamethylenediamine (abbreviated to DMHMD) is heated in the presence of a nickel catalyst, which may be supported on a carrier at a weight ratio of 0.01-0.5 to the DMHMD, preferably in the absence of a solvent, at 100-230 deg.C over 30min to form dimethylhexamethyleneimine (abbreviated to DMHMI). EFFECT:The reaction can be effected in high concentration of DMHMD without extraction of DMHMI from the reaction system, thus resulting in reduction in utility costs, increase in operation safety with the simplified facility and increase in the volume efficiency of the reactor. USE:Additive, modifier for synthetic resins, fiber lubricant, antistatic and others. |
