The machine spreads coarse-grained sensitive material in metered quantities over road markings by means of a bucket wheel in a housing with feed and discharge passages. A chamber is formed (01) in the housing (10) on the material feed side (13) and containing a system for maintaining the free surface (14) of the material at a predetermined height. The direction of rotation of the bucket wheel (18) is such that its filled buckets leave this chamber above the material level.
