PURPOSE:To attain the miniaturization of the titled device by arranging one or more positions where a pinch roller is pressed against a capstan among plural positions of a mode lever to one end altogether so as to decrease the stroke of the mode lever. CONSTITUTION:The positions of the mode lever 17 in pressing the pinch roller 56 against the capstan 55 are the play position and the reverse search position. Then a playing position and a reverse searching position are arranged altogether to a position where the mode lever 17 is biased to the left end in figure. Thus, it is only when the stroke is required for the pinch roller 56 to be pressed against or parted from the capstan 55 that the mode lever 17 is moved between the playing position and the stopping position. Thus, the entire stroke of the mode lever 17 is decreased and it is possible to miniaturize the device.
