An anchor bolt assembly for securing a bolt (11) in a bore hole having a settable bonding material (41) therein utilizes a standard smooth bolt or a rebar which has a head on one end and which is threaded to receive a nut (29) on the other end. Improved mixing of the bonding material (41) and improved tensioning of the bolt (11) is achieved by attaching a rod or wire (31) to the nut or head and to a second point of attachment along the bolt. Supporting members for applying pressure against an area surrounding the mouth of the bore hole are provided with a coating of a latent lubricating material (23) which becomes an active lubricant in response to heat generated as the bolt is rotated and tensioned in the bore hole.
