<p>The invention relates to a procedure and device for producing square lids with tear tabs at each corner from a web of foil using a cutting device to cut an incision right through to the edge of the foil web, a folding tool to fold the areas of foil on both sides of the cutting plane of the cutting device back on themselves to form the tear tabs, and a cut-off device to cut the foil web into lengths to form the lids. It is the object of the invention to develop a procedure and device of the kind mentioned above in such a way that the lids can be produced with the minimum of design-related and procedural effort without impairing their tear-off characteristics. This goal is achieved by designing a folding tool with two angled folding edges running in the direction of the middle of the foil web and intersecting at a point in the cutting plane of the cutting device; and by providing a cut-off device to cut the foil web into lengths along and in continuation of the incision.</p> |
